Sawbwa resplendens, also commonly known as the Asian Rummynose Rasbora, is a beautiful small schooling fish known for its slender body, red nose, and active swimming behavior. This species has a more delicate, refined look than many other small community fish and does especially well in peaceful aquariums with cooler, well-oxygenated water. In the right group, they are constantly moving and make an eye-catching display fish for smaller planted or species-focused setups.

Temperament & Behavior

Sawbwa resplendens are peaceful schooling fish that do best in groups. They are active, noticeable, and most comfortable when kept with their own kind in a calm aquarium without overly aggressive or overly warm-water tank mates. They do especially well in planted aquariums with open swimming space and gentle flow.

Feeding

Sawbwa resplendens do best on a varied diet of small foods. Appropriately sized foods help support color, body condition, and overall health.

Recommended foods:

High-quality micro pellets and fine flakes
Live baby brine shrimp
Frozen cyclops and other small frozen foods
Other appropriately sized live or frozen foods

They do best in tanks with:

Stable water quality and cooler temperatures
Plant cover and shaded areas
Open swimming space
