Assorted Singapore Discus offer an affordable opportunity to raise a group of domestic discus and watch their adult colors develop. They may include Red Turquoise, Blue Turquoise, Pigeon Blood, Marlboro, Blue Diamond, Cobalt, and related domestic color strains.

These are selectively bred domestic discus rather than wild locality fish. The exact strain mixture varies with each shipment, and juvenile coloration may change substantially as the fish mature. A lightly colored juvenile may eventually develop strong red, blue, turquoise, or patterned coloration.

Why Hobbyists Love Assorted Discus

  • Multiple premium colors in one group
  • Dramatic round body shape
  • Intelligent and interactive behavior
  • Opportunity to watch juvenile coloration develop

Animal Data

Temperament & Behavior
Discus are social cichlids that establish a hierarchy. Groups that are too small may allow a dominant fish to focus aggression on one subordinate individual. Breeding pairs can become territorial and may need a separate aquarium.

Feeding
Young discus perform best with several small meals daily. Remove uneaten food promptly.

Recommended foods:
Quality discus granules
High-quality cichlid pellets
Frozen mysis
Frozen or live brine shrimp
Krill-based foods
Frozen bloodworms used as part of a varied diet

Tank Parameters & Tankmates

Warmth, cleanliness, stability, and low nitrate are more important than constantly adjusting water chemistry. The supplier reports holding these domestic discus in hard water at approximately pH 8.2. You should still acclimate gradually to your aquarium.

  • Juvenile grow-out group: 55 gallons or larger with intensive maintenance
  • Adult group: 75 gallons or larger
  • Established breeding pair: 40–55 gallons with experienced care
  • Larger display group: 90–125 gallons preferred

Water Temperature

  • Ideal range: 82–86°F
  • Avoid rapid temperature or chemistry changes
  • Tankmates must tolerate sustained warm water

Tank Mates (Good Choices)

  • Cardinal Tetras
  • Rummynose Tetras
  • Sterbai Corydoras
  • Peaceful warm-water catfish
  • Other calm fish that will not outcompete them

Avoid:

  • Aggressive or highly territorial cichlids
