Pearl Galaxy Medaka Ricefish are a beautiful and unique nano fish known for their shimmering coloration, subtle patterning, and active top-to-midwater behavior. They are a great choice for hobbyists who want a peaceful, eye-catching fish that does well in planted setups and species groups.

At Legacy Line Aquatics, these fish are bred and raised in-house by me in a small-scale, care-first setup. I do not source from mass-production fish farms. My focus is on raising healthy fish with clean water, proper nutrition, and attentive day-to-day care, so you receive fish I’d be confident keeping in my own fish room.

Temperament & Behavior

Pearl Galaxy Medaka Ricefish are peaceful schooling/group fish with active surface and midwater movement. They do best in groups and are fun to watch as they interact, forage, and display subtle social behavior.

They do best in tanks with:

• Gentle flow

• Open swimming space

• Floating plants or top cover

• Stable water quality and temperature

• A secure lid (ricefish can jump)

Tank Size (Recommended)

• Small group: 10 gallon minimum

• Better long-term group setup: 15–20 gallons preferred

• Community or breeding group setup: 20 gallons+ ideal

Water Temperature

• Ideal range: 72–78°F

• Many hobbyists keep them around 74–76°F

• A stable temperature is more important than chasing an exact number

Tank Mates (Good Choices)

Best tank mates are peaceful nano/community fish that won’t harass them or outcompete them constantly at feeding time.

Good tank mates may include:

• Other peaceful ricefish (species-specific setups often best)

• Celestial Pearl Danios

• Ember tetras

• Pygmy Corydoras

• Small rasboras

• Neocaridina shrimp (with caution around fry)

Avoid:

• Aggressive fish

• Fin-nippers

• Large fish that may view them as food

• Fast, overly boisterous feeders

Feeding

Pearl Galaxy Medaka Ricefish thrive on a varied diet. A rotation of quality foods helps with color, condition, and breeding response.

Recommended foods:

• High-quality micro pellets

• Crushed flakes

• Frozen foods (baby brine shrimp, daphnia, finely sized foods)

• Live foods (optional, but excellent for conditioning and breeding)

• Delivery is available within an 80-mile maximum distance from Owensboro, Kentucky.
• $150 minimum order is required for delivery 
• $25 delivery fee applies
