Temperament & Behavior

Longfin White Clouds are peaceful schooling fish that do best in groups. They are active without being aggressive and do especially well in planted tanks with open swimming space and cooler, stable water. Like standard white clouds, they are most comfortable in groups and show their best behavior when kept with their own kind or similarly peaceful species.

Tank Parameters & Tankmates

They do best in tanks with:

  • Stable water quality
  • Cooler temperatures
  • Plant cover with open swimming space
  • Gentle to moderate flow
  • Group stocking rather than singles or pairs

Tank Size (Recommended)

  • Small group: 10 gallons minimum
  • Better long-term setup: 15–20 gallons preferred
  • Larger schools or community setups: 20 gallons+ recommended

Water Temperature

  • Ideal range: 65–72°F
  • Broader comfortable range: 65–77°F
  • They generally do better cooler than typical tropical community fish

Tank Mates (Good Choices)

Best tank mates are other peaceful fish that appreciate similar cooler temperatures.

Good tank mates may include:

  • Other White Clouds
  • Sawbwa resplendens
  • Peaceful shrimp and snails
  • Other small peaceful cooler-water community fish

Avoid:

  • Aggressive fish
  • Fin nippers
  • Very warm-water species
  • Large boisterous tank mates
