Dragonblood Peacock (Aulonocara sp. “Dragon Blood”)
The Dragonblood Peacock is a selectively line-bred aquarium strain prized for its intense red, coral, orange, pink, and white coloration. Unlike a wild geographic form, Dragonblood Peacocks have been developed through generations of selective breeding from Aulonocara stock.
Mature males normally display the strongest color, while females and juveniles are usually lighter or more subdued. Color can vary considerably, even between siblings from the same spawn. Some fish develop deeper red or orange tones, while others display pink, white, or mixed coloration. This natural variation means every Dragonblood is an individual.
Dragonblood Peacocks combine dramatic designer coloration with the graceful swimming behavior and manageable temperament that make Aulonocara popular display and breeding fish.
