Aquarium-Grown Pothos Water-Rooted Cutting

Our aquarium-grown pothos cuttings are propagated directly in our fish systems, allowing them to develop strong water roots before being offered for sale. These are not dry houseplant cuttings that need to be converted — they are already accustomed to growing with their roots in aquarium water.

Pothos is a popular choice for aquariums because it grows above the tank while sending roots down into the water. This creates a natural, planted look while helping absorb excess nutrients from the water column.

When grown with only the roots in the water and the leaves above the tank, pothos can help provide natural cover for fry and shrimp, support a more balanced system, and add a beautiful above-tank plant element to your aquarium.

Pothos is hardy, beginner-friendly, and does not require CO₂, substrate, or special aquarium lighting. While it can help support water quality, it should not replace regular water changes or proper filtration.

Why Hobbyists Love Pothos

  • Grown hydroponically in aquarium water
  • Already water-rooted and ready for aquarium use
  • Great for open-top tanks, hang-on-back filters, breeder racks, and planted setups
  • Helps absorb excess nutrients from the water column
  • Provides natural cover for fry and shrimp
  • Helps create a natural, established look
  • Easy to grow and beginner-friendly
  • Excellent add-on for shrimp, livebearer, cichlid, and community tanks

How to Use

Place the roots in the aquarium water while keeping the leaves and main vine above the waterline. Do not fully submerge the plant. Pothos is not a true underwater aquarium plant and should be grown emersed with only the roots in the water.

What You’ll Receive

Each cutting includes at least one healthy leaf, one or more nodes, and established water roots. Size, root length, and leaf shape may vary slightly because each cutting is naturally grown and propagated in our aquarium systems.
