Yellow King Tiger Cobra Guppies combine bright yellow coloration with intricate, contrasting cobra-style markings. Their patterned bodies and colorful fins create an eye-catching display against green plants and darker aquarium backgrounds.

These active livebearers add movement and personality to peaceful community aquariums. Males typically show the strongest coloration and most detailed patterning, while females are generally larger and more subtly colored.

Bred by Legacy Line Aquatics

Animal Data

Temperament & Behavior

Yellow King Tiger Cobra Guppies are peaceful, social livebearers that bring steady activity to the upper and middle levels of the aquarium. Males display their patterned bodies and fins while courting females.

They are suitable for peaceful community aquariums. In mixed-sex groups, aim for approximately one male to every two to three females to distribute male attention.

Feeding

Yellow King Tiger Cobra Guppies are omnivores. A varied diet supports growth, body condition, and fin development.

Recommended foods:

  • High-quality tropical flakes and micro pellets
  • Live baby brine shrimp
  • Frozen brine shrimp and daphnia
  • Vegetable-based flakes or small pellets
  • Occasional frozen bloodworms as a supplemental treat

Offer small meals and avoid leaving excess food in the aquarium. Feed fry suitably small foods in several modest portions throughout the day.

Breeding

Females give birth to free-swimming fry. Fine-leaved plants, moss, and floating plant roots provide shelter, although adults may still eat young.

A separate grow-out aquarium improves protection. Keep this variety separate from other guppy strains when preserving its characteristics.

Tank Parameters & Tankmates

They Do Best in Tanks With:

  • Gentle to moderate filtration and flow
  • Plants and sheltered areas
  • Open space for swimming and displaying
  • Stable, mineral-rich water
  • A fully cycled filter
  • A secure aquarium lid

Tank Size — Recommended

  • Small group or trio: 10 gallons minimum recommended
  • Community aquarium or breeding colony: 20 gallons or larger preferred
  • Plan additional space for offspring in mixed-sex groups.

Water Temperature

  • Good everyday target: 76–78°F
  • Maintain consistent temperatures.

Suitable options include:

  • Other peaceful guppies
